Getting started

Quickstart

From a sentence to a plugin on your server in about ten minutes.

This walks through one complete loop: describe a plugin, watch it build, download it and run it.

1. Sign in#

Modloom uses GitHub or Discord to sign in. There are no passwords. If you typed a brief on the landing page before signing in, it is kept for 24 hours and appears in the composer when you arrive.

2. Describe your plugin#

On the dashboard, write what you want in the composer. Be specific about behavior:

text
A /spawn command that teleports the player to the world spawn after a
5 second countdown. Cancel the teleport if the player moves. Add a
60 second cooldown per player and a permission, spawn.use, to allow it.

Before you send, check the target:

  • Game: Minecraft.
  • Engine and version: Paper, Purpur or Spigot. The default is Paper 1.21.8. Pick the version your server runs.
  • Model: the default is a fast, low-cost model. See Models and credits.
  • Mode: Build writes and compiles code. Plan only discusses. See Plan and Build modes.
Tip

Not sure what you want yet? Choose Plan. The agent asks a few questions first and changes nothing.

3. Watch it build#

Your private project opens and a run starts. In the thread you can see the agent read the project, write files, and compile. When it finishes, a Files changed summary lists every file it touched with a diff.

4. Review the result#

Open any file from the explorer to read it. The build box shows the Maven log. If the build failed, the agent usually fixes it on its own. If it stops, read the log and ask for the fix. See Troubleshooting.

5. Download the jar#

When a build succeeds, use Download in the Build panel. The same builds are also listed under Builds in the sidebar.

6. Install it#

Copy the jar into your server's plugins folder and restart. The full steps, including how to confirm it loaded, are in Installing your plugin.

7. Ask for changes#

Back in the thread, describe what is off or what to add. Each message is a new run on the same project, so the agent builds on its own earlier work.

What it costs#

Every account starts on the free plan, which includes weekly Modloom Credits and a few build minutes. Heavier models use more credits per request. See Plans and limits.
