Known limitations

What Modloom does not do yet, stated plainly.

Modloom is young. This page lists the edges so you can plan around them.

What it cannot do#

  • No testing on a server yet. Modloom compiles your plugin, but it cannot start a Minecraft server and run it for you. Testing on a server inside Modloom is coming soon. Until then, a passing build tells you the code compiles, not that it works in game, so test it on your own server.
  • Minecraft only. Other games and mod loaders such as Forge and Fabric are not supported.
  • Maven only. Projects are built with Maven. Gradle files are not used to produce the jar.
  • No Folia. Folia-specific scheduling is not supported.
  • No hosting. Modloom does not host servers or plugins.

Version coverage#

The version list only includes combinations with a published server API. Compiling them has been checked against those APIs, not exercised on live servers, and newer alpha or beta engine builds are marked experimental. See Engines and versions.

Working with the agent#

  • One run per project at a time. Source edits are blocked while a run is active.
  • Runs have budgets for turns, time and cost. Large requests may need splitting.
  • Long threads are summarized to fit the model's context, so early details can fade.
  • The model decides what to build. Read the diff before you trust it.

Workspaces and teams#

Workspaces currently have a single member, their owner. Inviting teammates is not available yet.

GitHub sync#

  • It is in beta.
  • One repository and one branch per project, and fast-forward pushes only.
  • There is no merge screen. Resolve a diverged branch in GitHub.
  • You cannot import an existing repository as a new project.
  • Deleting a project does not delete a linked repository.

Beta features#

These are newer and have had less use: the /web-search and /code-review commands, GitHub sync, and parallel agents with cross-project mentions. See Commands and mentions and Working across projects.

Storage#

Deleting a project does not instantly return its storage. Do not rely on deleting a project to free space right away.

Availability#

Features that depend on outside services, such as payments, GitHub and AI providers, can be switched off or unavailable at times. When a feature is off, the app tells you.
